Lottery Fraud Alert

The First National Bank of Florida has become aware of fraudulent letters designed to mislead our customers into believing that they have won large amounts of money from either a  domestic or an international lottery.

Several customers have received “Official Letters” informing them that they have won large amounts of money in an international lottery in Canada, Switzerland, or Denmark. In order to receive their money, they are required, by U.S. Federal law and international law, to pay the taxes and a currency conversion fee. Once their payment is received, the money will be sent.  If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. The letter is very convincing. It looks official and quotes various U.S. statutes.

If you receive any kind of letter or notice requiring you to send money, credit or debit card numbers, or any other financial information, DO NOT DO IT!  Please bring it in to your closest First National Bank of Florida branch and let us research it for you.
